ZG Provides Economic and Reliability Analysis for West of Devers Upgrade
In order to bring renewables energy from the southwest desert to the Los Angeles Metropolitan area, Southern California Edison proposed a major transmission upgrade (AKA West of Devers) along its transmission corridors in Riverside County. The West of Devers upgrade increases the transmission capacity of 48 miles of 220 kV double circuit construction running from the Devers Substation just north of Palm Springs to the San Bernardino and Vista substations to the western Riverside County The transmission upgrade allows generation from IID and Arizona to be deliverable. The project started construction in 2018. ZG was retained by the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) and provided comprehensive economics and reliability analysis The analysis focused on evaluating the cost to benefits from ratepayers’ perspectives and evaluated other alternatives. This project completion will pay an important role in achieving the State Climate changes initiative.
